Why Windows Firewall Blocks QuickBooks?

Windows Firewall is designed to protect your system from unauthorized access. However, sometimes it mistakenly blocks QuickBooks from connecting to the internet. This usually happens due to:

  • Incorrect firewall settings

  • QuickBooks not being added as an exception

  • Port settings not configured properly

  • Security software conflicts

How to Fix Windows Firewall Blocking QuickBooks?

Follow these steps to resolve the issue and ensure that your QuickBooks works without interruptions.

Step 1: Add QuickBooks as an Exception in Windows Firewall

  1. Open the Windows Start menu and search for Windows Defender Firewall.

  2. Click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.

  3. Select Change Settings and then Allow another app.

  4. Click Browse, select QuickBooks, and click Add.

  5. Ensure both Private and Public networks are checked.

  6. Click OK to save the changes.

Step 2: Configure Firewall Ports for QuickBooks

  1. Open Windows Defender Firewall and click on Advanced Settings.

  2. In the left panel, click on Inbound Rules, then select New Rule.

  3. Choose Port and click Next.
